Story

My favorite novel is The Perks of Being a Wallflower written by Stephen Chbosky. It’s a coming of age story, a teenage romantic drama and it’s written in a epistolary way. The story takes place in the United States and settled in the eighties.

The book is about Charlie, a fifteen year old boy; he is introverted, shy and intelligent. He also suffers from depression and anxiety. His best friend recently killed himself and he feels alone. Charlie is starting his freshman year in high school with fear because he has no friends but, then he meets Patrick and his step sister Sam, who are seniors. He enters their group of friends and they show him a new way of living which helps Charlie understand what growing up and being an adult means. Since this moment, Charlie enters the teenage world of love, drugs, sex, family dramas, new friends and more everyday problems that he has to deal with. During the entire story, Charlie writes letters to an unknown friend about how he feels and what’s going on with his life.

I find this novel very interesting because you read the story from Charlie’s letters point of view and get to know how he feels about. It’s a dramatic story but it also has beautiful moments about adolescence and you empathize with Charlie’s situation.

Story

My favourite book is Mecanoscrit del segon origen, written by Manuel de Pedrolo and the genre of the book is realistic fiction.
The novel happens in Barcelona and the author doesn't specify the time.

One day every body dies except Alba and Dídac because they were under water. They will have to survive by themselfs, learning to drive, learning to use medicine...Also, Dídac and Alba look if there are more people alive.

The characters:
-Alba: at the beginning of the novel she is 14 years old, she grows up and evolves. She is thin and she have brown hair. Alba is very matter and lovely too.
-Dídac: he is older than Alba. At the beginning he is little and innocent but he evolves. He is black and thin.

Story

I'm going to talk about my favourite book, which I read this summer, is called Lisey's Story, by Stephen King.
Lisey's Story is about two differents stories: in one hand, Lisey's life after the death of his husband, Scott, a very famous horror novelist, and in the other hand, the memories of the relationship between both of them, also, about Scott's terrible childhood and early life. and all the experiences they've lived together. In the present, the part where Scott is already dead, Lisey is harassed by a mad fan of Scott, who terrorizes and mutilates her.

The couple are treated as the main character itself, Lisey lives for Scott, and Scott for Lisey, in a really deep and intense relationship. Scott is a man with a lot of problems, his dad abused of him and his brother when they were young, and to refugy himself he invented a secret and imaginary place: a lake: Boo'ya moon. Lisey is also really surrounded by problems, her sister, Amanda, suffers from schizophrenia, and a mad fan of his dead husband harasses her.

The whole book is full of parallel histories, all of those I said below, and many more, they all happen at a same time, but in a different point of their lifes. The most intense novel I have ever read, my first horror and gothic book, it helped me deal, the whole concept of the imaginary lake really fascinated me. I will never forget Scott and Lisey.

Story

My favorite novel at the moment is Susurro de besos, written by Laura B., also known as Dorianne, and published by Ediciones Babylon. Susurro de besos is a drama novel, but it also criticizes how society reacts to homosexuality, showing that our society is not as respectful and open-minded as we think.

This book is settled at Spain, more specifically in Valencia. The main plot is about two male students that fell in love in university. They will try to fight over all the adversities they will encounter related to homophobia: the fear of being rejected by their own friends, the people who will try to harm them, and even defend themselves from their own family. But before that, they will have to break every single stereotype they grow up with and realize that they love each other and that there’s nothing wrong with it. At some point in the novel they have to split by the fact that they follow different paths academically speaking, but they will end having a long-distance relationship. The question here is: will they be able to get over all the obstacles…?

The message of this story it’s that we should love whoever we want, regardless of the stereotypes settled in our society. At the end, they become a strong and loving couple; the best ending that could be, since they end both living happily.
